This means your computer cannot detect the carrier, or make a connection to Netscape.

Please check that the modem cable and the modem power cord and make sure they are securely attached. If that doesn't solve the problem, check your dialing properties. |

Make sure you are dialing the correct number. Try dialing the number manually using a handset. If you hear modem tones on the other end, you are probably dialing the correct number. If you don't hear modem tones, you should locate the correct number to dial. |

If the problem persists, check to make sure you are using all necessary prefixes, such as 9 to get out of a company phone system, or a 1 if you are dialing long distance. |
